Guild and National Events For Your Diary

(Not all these Events are organised by the Guild, though we may be participating)

We generally meet on the second Saturday of the month at Strathpeffer Community Centre. Click on the links below for more information about individual sessions. We have also now set up regular special interest sessions via Zoom: Dyeing is quarterly on the first Saturday (March, June, September, December), Spinning on the third Saturday of each month, and Weaving on the last Saturday of the month. Zoom links will be sent via the monthly newsletter.

The cost for open days is £5 for members and £10 for non members; workshops are generally £20 for members and £35 for non members. Variations from this, and any change of venue should be stated in the event details.

East Sutherland and Easter Ross Spinning

In 2016 we successfully relaunched a spinning group in east Sutherland and Ross. We meet on the first Tuesday morning in the month at members’ houses from October to June. We spin, exchange ideas, sometimes do some dyeing, and even buy eggs and meat in season. Usually I send out a reminder email to everyone.

Our area stretches from Portmahomack to Dornoch and up the Kyle of Sutherland to Culrain. If there is anyone
else in the area or outwith who would like to join us or come along occasionally if they would let me know at j.c.mackay(at) I can add them to my mailing list.

Alves Sunday Spinners

We meet in Alves village hall on a Sunday from 1-3pm, usually fortnightly. Our Facebook page is Alves Sunday Spinners, or email me: jane_divers(at) to check dates. We ask for a small donation to cover the hire of the hall, no charge for tea and coffee. Next meetings: 10 and 24 February 2019.

Other Events

Local events

In the summer months small groups of members demonstrate their skills at some of the agricultural shows and craft fairs. Members also take part in local craft events at other times of year. Members demonstrating at farm shows and other events should familiarise themselves with our Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy, and get consent forms signed for photographs of anyone in these categories.

Summer Shows

Guild members are generally involved in demonstrating at local summer shows.

National Events

There are a number of national events which may be of interest to Guild members, which we will try to list here. If you know of any Events that would interest our members please do let us know and we’ll add to our calendar.
