The summer is a busy time for everyone and, though we don’t tend to hold many get-togethers over the school holiday times, there has already been some great activities.
Aileen has put in a wee report for us on the Sutherland Show, which sounds like it was a great day out. As always it’s lovely to see the children getting involved with the things we have to try. Thank you to all the members who when along to demonstrate and help with the display. These things do take some effort and your time and involvement is very much appreciated.
There are a few more shows still to come this summer; Nairn next and then the Black Isle Show. Serena has mentioned to me that we are particularly looking for members to demonstrate, even for a short stint, at the Black Isle Show. It’s a long day for just a few to do on their own and we’re hoping we can get some more support. Will you be able to drop in for a couple of hours on either the wednesday afternoon or anytime on the thursday? For those willing to participate Serena can get tickets if you can let her know as soon as possible. It really is important we have a good presence here since we’ve finally been given a decent space to work in.
Workshops are being planned behind the scenes too. Did you see the one about weaving with Cally Booker this september? This promises to be a very informative and interesting day finding out about the Goethe-Albers colour triangle and its associated ‘moods’ through weaving. Cally is bringing 4 looms warped up with required threads but there is the option of bringing your own small loom and a pre-prepared warp being sent to you in advance. There are four more places to take for this to be full so please do book and then we can let Cally know how many warps to make up asap.
Continue to enjoy this glorious summer ! (I know, I know… I’ve got a creative imagination)
All the best, Helen
