What to expect:
Using the Autumn Equinox as a theme, this workshop will focus on the practical steps of design development through to weaving a tapestry. It will cover various aspects of tapestry weaving and how these may influence design development and the theme or subject of design. A range of approaches to design will be considered and, given the theme, colour will be an important element of this work: how yarns and techniques can be used to present an atmosphere, whether through a pictorial image or abstraction.

What to bring:
• Basic wooden tapestry frame without nails/ grooves (or anything that will restrict your sett options). Minimum dimension: 45 cm * 60 cm.
PLEASE INDICATE ON THE BOOKING FORM IF YOU NEED TO BORROW OR PURCHASE A TAPESTRY WEAVING FRAME.
• Your usual weaving tools, such as bobbins, beater, clamps, ruler and scissors.
• Design tools such as paper, pencils, images design inspiration.
• You may also bring your own weft and warp yarns. All materials will be checked and discussed regarding suitability for weaving according to the planned design and warp sett. You can warp up your frame, if you wish, but ensure that you will be able to adjust the sett.
• Refreshments and lunch.

What will be provided:
• Yarns. A mixture of rug wool, pure wool and alternative materials will be available.
• Wooden bobbins will be provided but need not necessarily be used.
